The perfect transition wine for spring into summer. It also is perfect with Mexican food. It has the body to stand up to the food with the acid to be malleable. The Sauvignon Blanc provides the expressive aromas and that welcoming invitation for most foods. The Semillon gives the body and more substance. The wine was aged in stainless steel on the lees and then fined and filtered. Couronneau is an organic and certified by Ecocert producer.

This wine is perfect at this price point. Easy going with an authentic feel. Not trying to be over expressive, just a good solid zin. Sometimes it's so hard just to be yourself. Maybe it is because, “The wine was then drained of the skins and placed in 40% new oak barrels for 9 months before bottling. This early bottling allows the fruit to stay intense and youthful showcasing the Zinfandel grape.” Boy, do they know how to handle zin. Enjoy all the jammy blackberries this zin can give.

This is Bordeaux 101, a basic everyday type of wine that won’t hurt the pocketbook. Wine Spectator consistently rates it high and writes, “Fresh and fruity, with attractive berry and tobacco character and just a hint of vanilla." This is not a "showy" wine, it's laidback in style but not flabby on the palate. A very well-made wine. Christophe Piat is the winemaker and was a previous recipient of Bordeaux’s Winemaker of the Year for Wines and Foods of France. This wine is organic and is made from low yields.

Yes, I am a HUGE fan of Odisea. A creative winemaker who knows how to use his tools and has respect for the grapes, the vines and the land. This wine was barrel fermented sur lie but no ML was allowed to happen. The wine was bottled unfiltered. The winemaker describes it the best: "It begins with aromas of ripe pear, acacia flowers, pineapple and honeydew melon, which yield to apricot, honeysuckle, toasted almonds and savory spice. The palate exhibits medium to full body and a luscious, creamy texture yet remains lively and refreshing. Exotic flavors of lychee, coconut, candied ginger and citrus are released as the wine opens in the glass with touches of pepper and chalk. The finish delivers a silken seamlessness that is expansive yet totally in balance."

WU members loved the Chardonnay that we just shipped by this small producer in the Healdsburg area. 2007 was a good year for them and they are loving the age-ability of this Pinot Noir. This Pinot is charming and elegant with a clean and bright finish, a fabulous food Pinot. The winemaker, Webster Marquez, who has worked previously at Williams Selyem and Anthill Farm, brings his top-notch talent to this relatively new winery. Though a newcomer, C. Donatillo has the soul of an old-timer but treats its crops well for the furture—they are organic. 2,700 cases made.

Crisp, clean, bright with some light tropical fruit. Springtime in a glass. Easy drinking aromatics that won't hit you in face, so bring on the asparagus! Serve with a carmelized onion tart and a salad of arugula and lightly blanched shaved asparagus and you have got a homerun.

Purity with a touch of minerality. Not all Italian Pinot Grigios are simplistic. This stunning and bright number has green apple notes and is light and crisp but has enough mid-palate and body to satisfy. 100% stainless steel from South Tyrol, named for the Roman (Rhaetia) Province.
