1. A wine region in Italy
2. A wine grape from Italy
3. A wine grape from Central Europe
4. A wine region in Central Europe
Answer: A wine grape from Central Europe
Also known as ‘Bouvier,’ the variety is planted across Central Europe. A wild crossing of a Pinot variety, the other parent grape is unknown. It was discovered in 1900 by Clotar Bouvier. This makes it indigenous. Early ripening and low yielding it is commonly used to make sweet wines. This month we feature winemaker Franci Cvetko who fancies it dry and makes a beautiful rendition of his take on Ranina.
